SENIOR ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (BLS SOC 17-3029 Engineering Technician).
Apply electrical and electronic theory and related knowledge, usually under the direction of engineering staff, to design, build, repair, calibrate, and modify electrical components, circuitry, controls, and machinery for subsequent evaluation and use by engineering staff in making engineering design decisions.
a. Education: High school graduation or equivalency certification. Completion of a technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school curriculum or course of training in electricity, electronics, avionics, mechanics, armaments/ordnance, or engineering technology; or, completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of course studies at an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical curriculum.
b. Experience: A total of at least 8 years of experience in performing the foregoing functions and, at least 2 years of the foregoing total experience shall have consisted of performing engineering/ technical functions with respect to in support of manufacturing of test and evaluation, aircraft systems, avionics systems or equivalent.
